Well, it’s Halloween. Somehow it seems like this holiday has lost a lot of magic for me, mainly because I’m diabetic and I really, really loved the candy. But it doesn’t make this holiday any less fun in other ways. According to the wiki how to, the Sarah Palin halloween costume will be one of the most popular ones this year. I think that’s pretty funny. I’d like to see a bunch of Sarah Palins running around trick or treating. That might be pretty damn funny.
On a totally different note, over at girlrobot, I saw a most awesome and funny video, called “First Asian guy”. It’s a pretty well put together song about going out with your first asian guy. And as girlrobot point out, how hung up asian guys are on being so unpopular with non-asian women. Are we really that hung up? Probably. :P Not to mention, this guy is really very good. You know how in Japan they have really strange things in their pop culture? Yeah, well I know this is old but I was talking to Danalyn today and had to share with you this funny thing that just popped into conversation. I was telling her that for halloween, I plan on being Hiro from Heroes. I figure all I need is a sword and to go around saying “Yatta!” Which of course brought to mind, Happatai. So anyways, Danalyn sent me the “Yatta” song and I just had to watch the video again, and share with you, my lovely readers, this video. Video after the bump!

I was talking to Meesh last night and she told me that she just saw the funniest Neil Patrick Harris commercial for Old Spice. Of course, I’m a big fan of the Old Spice commercials. Have you seen the Bruce Campbell one? That’s my favourite. So I had to look it up on youtube, because… Youtube has everything right? LOL But when I saw the NPH commercial, it’s a good contender for my favourite Old Spice commercials since he totally clowns Doogie Howser. Videos after the bump.

Perhaps you’ve heard of the movie Shaolin Soccer. I know you’ve heard of Kung fu Hustle. Now, there’s Shaolin Girl. Shibasaki Kou stars in this one. The trailer is in Japanese, sorry about that, but the movie is Japanese. It’s not a Stephen Chow movie, instead he was consulted on this one. It’s not a sequel per se of Shaolin Soccer. But it looks very much like a Stephen Chow movie. Video after the bump.

I felt the “quickie” or “aside” post I made about Sidney Pollack passing away was perhaps a bit too little. I really loved his stuff. He was also an actor, and did quite a bit of acting. I think that one of the best things I’ve seen him do, however, was the Cingular commercial that you saw while going to the movies, when they tell you “silence your cellphones”. (video after the bump)
Yes, we know he did the movies like “Out of Africa” and “Tootsie” (directed) but he also produced and starred in “Michael Clayton” as well as many other movies and shows you probably didn’t think he was in. Take a look at his IMDB profile and see for yourself. Sidney got around.
It’s just getting sad the people I grew up watching are passing away, like cybr said. It’s just crazy. It’s a great reminder that I’m just getting old. But I’m not even that old! I’ll be turning 40 this year, so this is my “Around 40″ time. Ironically, there’s a Japanese dorama called “Around 40″ but I won’t get into it just yet. Soon.

So you might have heard about the guy who video taped going about 164mph on I-5 on his motorcycle. He also happened to get pulled over just shortly after that video. Does anyone here think that perhaps it’s some sort of fake thing going on here? Maybe I just don’t get it, but why would he be allowed to post the video on youtube of all places if the video is showing proof that he was speeding? Wouldn’t the police confiscate the video and keep it for themselves? You can find some more information about at KOMO TV news. The video is after the bump. Here’s a quote from the video description: “Me taking my Honda CBR600RR out for a test run. I got pulled over shortly after, and this video got me convicted of careless driving and reckless endangering. I advise other bike riders to obey the posted speed limits.”
The fastest I’ve ever gone is 150mph on the Garden State Parkway in Jersey. I’ll never do that again. But honestly, it was such a rush.

Ok, so I just decided to go ahead and upgrade to Wordpress 2.5. Yeah, I know. Usually I’d wait at least until a point release, but this time I just wanted to get going and upgrade it already. Fantastico takes forever to upgrade, so I’m not waiting for them on this website. (I’ll wait to upgrade my other websites when Fantastico updates. It’s not too important right now for them to be upgraded)
Anyways, there are some features I like. For instance, you can insert a youtube video now just by inserting the URL. Pretty slick, I must say. No plugin needed there. (although I have to keep the plugin for my old videos. Either that or edit all my old posts!) Another thing that’s not bad is the full screen mode to enter a post. I thought this was kinda funny, since ExpressionEngine 2.0 has the same feature. I guess they had the same thoughts. Who knows. Also, the media gallery thing is pretty nice. You can upload multiple images for a post, then have them show up in a gallery within that post. Pretty neat if I may say so myself.
There are numerous other features, but honestly. If you want to see them you’re gonna have to upgrade. Have you upgraded yet?
